Anyone that knows me knows I love Giant robots that transform. Yeah, transformers. Michael Bay released the teaser for the new film tonight via the superbowl and interwebs.
Do yourself a favour, click the video to go to Youtube and check out the HD version, incredible.
One of my favourite games of all time is Goldeneye on the N64. It’s a classic of game design, the box, not so much. It’s a slap dash job and was only passable even at the time of release. Olly Moss of flickr has decided to correct this wrong and has started recreating classic video game cobers in the style of old classic penguin books and golden eye is a doozy!!! I’ve thrown it down below along with the original cover for reference. Check out his flickr account where you can see his interpretation of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and Half-Life. Brilliant. I may just have a bash at something like this myself, but on a different subject.

Today’s video games are great. There’s no two ways about it, old games were good (a few were the best ever apparently;P), but lets be honest, half the time they were utter garbage that had no redeeming features what so ever. Today it’s different. A garbage game is hard to spot under all its fancy graphics and slick presentation (DOAX 2, I’m looking at you!).
Covers are often boring, pre-rendered and devoid of any personality (this of course is a huge generalisation, but it’s my blog so I can do that). Ahh, how I long for the days of the Atari 2600 where the covers were often the best thing. How the tears stung my cheeks when games never lived upto the promise these mini Da Vinci’s promised. Mighty God King have a great parody (that is barely a parody at all) of these awesome covers of ye olde times! Here’s my fave…
Har Har Fiddle di di… It’s fun time again and today’s video is brought to you with the letter P and the number eight.
Proper updates will be coming soon.
I’m a huge fan of the Watchmen graphic novel and Zack Snyders adaptation lokos like it’s gonna deliver. Over on his blog he’s posted some pics of Dean Morgan as The Comedian, Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl, Matthew Goode as Ozymandias, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, and Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre. I’m loving the redesigned look they all have tho I’m a lttle dissapointec Nite Owl doesn’t have his “I’m getting too old for this shit” beer belly 🙂
As a designer I’ve been curious whether they would remain faithful to the comics design and the resounding answer is yes and no. I really can’t wait for the trailer for this bad boy.
Bring the rain baby, bring the rain!
Dunedin’s a pretty funky place to be right now. There’s a great vibe going through the city now the students are back and it’s become a thriving Mega-studentopolis once again.
The other cool thing is the fact that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is shooting here at the moment. Working in the kind of job I have is pretty cool, almost everybody comes to me at some point and that’s true of Hollywood superstars too! Over this past week I’ve met Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts. Hugh and Liev are playing Wolverine and Sabretooth respectfully and Naomi Watts is Liev’s partner. They were all pretty cool and just like regular folk only with giant lamb chop side burns (except Naomi)!
Anyway keep up the good work guys, I’ll see you at the Oscars!
